With her lush operatic vocals and fearless brand of original pop that fuses classical influences over modern beats, Aria Tesolin is taking classical music out of recital halls and churches and giving it a home on Top 40 radio.

Born in 1993 in Ontario, Canada this young artist is both intriguing and complex. Also a rising spoken word poet, her multi-layered lyrics often take a deep dive into the human experience. Listen a second time and a third, and you’ll hear something new.

Ascension, Tesolin's current album, was released in April 2013 and showcases her original songwriting for the first time. For this album Tesolin and Toronto producer Douglas Romanow developed a musical style that combined the poetic originality of her lyrics in a sonic landscape which paired classical influences with pop beats and electronic orchestra (harp, cello mixed with electronic piano and synthesizer effects). Acension's lyrics confront deep themes about life’s more pressing challenges: isolation, faith, overcoming, and the intricacies of modern romance. Her songs often contain elements of musical theatre, rock, pop and jazz unified in a musical identity that is unique to the artist.

Aria first became known on for her live performances of opera arias as a child. Her charismatic performances as an 8 year old singing opera arias in concerts with Canadian tenors became legendary when they were posted to Youtube a few years later, reaching an audience of 7 million people. There she inspired a following of young people who became more interested in classical music. She released her debut album, Baby Soprano, a collection of 14 popular and difficult opera arias at age 12.
